Social Media & Distribution Content Manager


Our client is a local news website tailored for the mobile web. It brings free county- level news to any internet-enabled phone. It sources all its news stories from local ‘citizen reporters’ (i.e. anyone who wants to report the news) who are paid via mobile-money for each article our editors publish. Our client is one of the most far-reaching and cost-effective media models presently available in the country. They are looking for a Social Media & Distribution Content Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Oversee the way our 15 county news editors run all our social media platforms: FB, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp.
  • Design and execute experiments & campaigns to grow our reach/following on all our platforms.
  • Design, update, communicate best-practice social media guidelines for writers to share their content.
  • Find new innovative ways to distribute content; e.g. WhatsApp broadcast lists, pop ups, sms alerts.
  • Design campaigns to allow our followers to inform the news content we produce (content, story tips).
  • Design quarterly and yearly objectives with CEO.
  • Communicate progress weekly to the team.

Qualifications: 

  • Outstanding verbal and visual communication skills.
  • Do you have at least 3 years experience being the lead social media manager for an online publisher? (being in charge of at least 3 social media platforms incl. Facebook).
  • Do you have a passion for social media and a natural curiosity on how to improve audience reach?
  • Proof you led the growth of social media reach for an organization.
  • Proof you designed and carried out content experiments?
  • Ability to pick up new programs quickly (What is your approach in learning a new program like Google Suite, Slack, CRM…)
  • Programs: Social Media management software, Facebook Analytics, Google Analytics, Google Suite, Excel, Slack.
  • Strong and long-lasting passion to write about a particular subject (any)
  • Self-driven: show several examples where you carried out a project from start to finish.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new ideas or technologies and ability to multitask, working independently under deadline pressure and prioritize task.
  • Do you have a scientific mind for experimentation? Build a hypothesis > test > conclude > reiterate
  • Proven examples of picking up new programs quickly (how do you go about learning a new program like Google Suite, Slack, CRM…).
  • To keep up with the speed and energy you must be very organised, and a rapid & clear communicator.
