Project Accountant


Our client, a developer, owner and operator of power plants and infrastructure across sub-Saharan Africa are currently seeking to recruit a Project Accountant for a 2 year contract, to be based in their Nairobi Offices with frequent site visits.


  • Implement the procurement policies and procedures
  • Coordinate negotiations with suppliers and develop a database of pre-approved vendors
  • Conducting due diligence on prospective suppliers to ensure quality
  • Receive supplier invoices and verifying information to establish the accuracy of supplies
  • Prepare LPOs and initiate the purchase to pay process (P2P).
  • Implement a management IS for monitoring, tracking and controlling operating costs
  • Manage risk and maintain a quality management system in the procurement unit
  • Maintain the ledger of the company.
  • Maintain the cash books of the company.
  • Maintain the purchases ledger of the company.
  • Manage petty cash funds and transactions.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports & ensure safe custody of financial information.
  • Ensure compliance with the applicable accounting policies.
  • Work closely with the accountant to ensure smooth running of the finance department.
  • Render quality customer care to clients, suppliers, visitors and staff in a timely manner.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the accountant.
  • Payroll, NHIF, NSSF and any other statutory deductions.
  • File tax returns i.e VAT, PAYE, Withholding tax.
  • Liaising with external auditors.


  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or equivalent.
  • CPA K.
  • Microsoft office packages proficiency.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experiences in a similar position in a comparable organisation.
  • Use of Quick Books accounting software is a MUST.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Proven team player with good inter-personal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build work relationships and networks.
  • Possess strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail.
