Managing Director – West Africa

Our client a Global Organisation with its inception in the USA and with primary mission of accelerating economic development in emerging economies is looking to fill the position of Managing Director – West Africa for their offices based in Lagos, Nigeria. The successful candidate MUST have launched or established a business unit as a CEO/COO or a Business Unit Head in a for-profit organisation/any successful enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build & lead country operations through effective implementation of org programs.
  • Develop and manage business partnerships with Government and associations.
  • Influence Government policy decisions & actions at multiple levels & drive awareness of Orgs initiatives.
  • Drive & maximize outcomes & impact for the organization in the country or countries under him.
  • Successfully deploy technology-based-solutions to end users for impact at scale.
  • Develop annual budgets and detailed annual country operating plans.
  • Develop dashboards and program performance reports, on a monthly or quarterly basis.
  • Recruit and manage staff, including performance monitoring, mentoring and training.
  • Establish strong credibility, thought leadership and visible presence for the organization.
  • Maintain strong exc. presence & manage business operations & roll-out across multiple geographies.


  • Must be a Nigerian National.
  • Must have a Master’s degree or Postgraduate from a top University or foreign institute.
  • Must have at least 20-25 years of work experience with strong analytical and strategic orientation.
  • Must have at least 7 years’ experience in BDM and Country Management.
  • Must have experience of for-profit enterprise with additional exposure to Start-ups/ SME support.
  • Exposure to Skill development in school and higher education sector would be highly desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively across cross-cultural environment.
  • Must have passion for success and social change with general management experience preferably in a for-profit organization.
  • Understanding of working with Government to influence policy action.
  • Excellent Networking Skills, the person must deliver highest standards of customer service.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
